Sofia Vokalensemble bildades 1995 av Bengt Ollén som fortfarande är körens engagerade dirigent. Körens framträdanden kännetecknas av en varm, lyrisk svensk körklang och en scenisk närvaro som har räckt långt i internationella tävlingar.

Sofia Vokalensemble on tour to Lithuania!

A country with strong choral traditions and we look forward to performing at the festival Birštonas Cantat 2018 on May 17th, hold workshops and finally meet and make music together with composer Ola Gjeilo whose pieces we’ve performed many times during the past decade. On Saturday May 19th we’ll be on stage together singing his music in Vilnius. The concert goes under the name  “Open to the World” and is arranged by the choir Bel Canto Choras who we had the great privilege meeting in Vilnius two years ago.

We have no words to describe Monday evening’s performance of Oedipus Rex / Symphony of Psalms! Thank you to our amazing choir colleagues in Orphei Drängar and Gustaf Sjökvists Kammarkör. Thank you to all the soloists, the Kungliga Hovkapellet and the Baltic Sea Festival. Thank you to our conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen and our outstanding director Peter Sellars. Oedipus Rex / Symphony of Psalms at the Royal Swedish Opera tonight!

8D7CDF88-9A42-4D60-AEE9-B94E7E60392FTonight it’s finally time for the sold out opening performance of “Oedipus Rex / Symphony of Psalms” by Igor Stravinsky! The performance opens this year’s Baltic Sea Festival with Esa-Pekka Salonen as conductor and Peter Sellars as stage director. We share the stage with the Kungliga Hovkapellet, Orphei Drängar and the ladies of Gustaf Sjökvists KammarkörSveriges Radio P2 will broadcast this live starting at 18:55 CET.

New video: “Jordens Oro Viker” by Ludvig Norman

On June 8th we hold our traditional summer evening concert in Sofia church! The concert program includes the Swedish composer Ludvig Norman’s motet for double choir “Jordens Oro Viker”. We also performed the piece on May 24th at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.
