Let the Peoples Sing, 2015
Selected to compete in the finals. The first stage of the contest organized by the European Broadcasting Union, EBU, the national radio companies each choose a choir that is to represent the country in the semi-finals. Of the semifinalists a expert jury selects contestants for the finals which this year is in Munich in October 2015.

IFCM Ambassador, 2014 – International Federation on Choral Music
Chosen to be one of IFCM’s choral ambassadors during 2014

Maribor, Slovenia, 2012 – European Grand Prix for Choral Singing.
Won the final against four choirs that also had won a competition the previous year.

Maribor Slovenia, 2011 – International Choir Competition.
Grand Prix winners, and also first prize in both the compulsory
program and the free program. The choir is qualified for the European
Grand Prix for Choral Singing in April 2012.

Let the Peoples Sing, 2010
The choir was nominated by the Swedish Radio to represent Sweden in
the choir competition Let the Peoples Sing 2011, arranged by the
European Broadcasting Union.

Bergen, Norway, 2009 – Grieg International Choir competition.
Grand Prix winners and also first prize in the Contemporary music category.

Gorizia, Italy 2008 – 47th International Choral Competition “C.A. Seghizzi”
First prize in two categories, second prize in Grand Prix final.

Helsinki, Finland, 2006 – II International Harald Andersén Chamber Choir Competition
Shared second prize with Victoria Chamber Choir (Hungary). No first prize was awarded.

Bremen, Germany, 2004 – Three Olympic Gold Medals at the Choir Olympics
Gold medal, “Mixed Chamber Choirs” (first runner up) 92,25p Best
European Choir Gold medal, “Musica Sacra a capella” (second runner up)
83,63p Best European Choir Gold medal, “Musica Contemporanea” (second
runner up) 88.00p Best European Choir

Cork, Ireland, 2000 – Fleischmann International Trophy Competition’
Second runner up (Bronze) with the score 90.9, a mere 0.8 points
behind the winner.

Sicily, 1999 – XXI International Review of Music, 2001 – Honorary plaque
From the independent vacation- and tourism bureau to the Sofia Vocal
Ensemble: “Special International Award of the Jury” and Honorary
plaque with “respect and gratitude”.

Preveza, Greece, 1999 – International Competition of Sacred Music
Gold medal in the category “Chamber Choirs – Mixed Voices” Silver
medal in the category “Chamber Choirs – Women Section” Silver medal in
the category “Chamber Choirs – Male Section” Special award for “Best
Performance of Orthodox Chant”

Musical Colleagues

During the past ten years, the Sofia Vocal Ensemble has had the
privilege of working together with many artists and composers. We wish
to mention some persons and groups who have been especially
influential on us.

Sofia Vokalensemble is frequently invited to perform at ceremonies and galas. Some of our previous contractors have been the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Skansen open-air museum, The Alternative Nobel Prize, Hong Kong Euro Christmas, The City of Stockholm and Ericsson.
